I want to weep after reading all this. But must say thank you for keeping us informed

Your last sentence, David, sent a chill up my backbone.

The damage being inflicted by the Trump monsters will be all but irreversible. As a senior citizen (age 75), I may not personally much from the dire results, but the entire globe will feel the pain for decades and centuries.

the issue is these judges stay their orders pending appeal which means nothing changes. until they stop doing that they are just bloviating.

Thank you David for

your continuous

information on the

ruination of the EPA and

the ignorance of

climate change.

I live in the middle of a

forest and have for

many years. Our area

has been in moderate

drought for nearly a

year. Today we're finally

getting some steady

rain for 24 hrs. I can see

the changes here, with

the loss of several

trees, sudden invasion

of parasitic vines, very

low song bird count, no

bees and few

butterflies. Humming

birds aren't staying

around either. Hazardous breathing

alerts are becoming

more normal. Only a

fool would believe there

was nothing wrong

here, or anywhere else.

Uhh…

Fanning the flames of global warming is what Big Business has been doing and wants for decades. Can’t blame Trump for ascending to their long time interests—and what they’ve been corrupting democratically elected governments for.

As for Germany rearming, this:

Should maybe that I’m reasonably sanguine about military action from Russia against Europe. As a resource exporting economy, economic warfare would be a bigger problem. OTOH, European defense isn’t my responsibility… Talk is cheap and all that.

As for Jared the National Security Risk: Well, we elected as POTUS a lawbreaking 5hug who was a documented security risk that his predecessor wasn’t especially interested in prosecuting so I can’t see that Jared is all that huge a concern other than maybe norms being disregarded or something.

There just appeared in the Foreign Affairs magazine an article on this very subject of Germany rearming, with the implication that such moves could install Germany as the European hegemon, replacing the fast-fading US. But tbh, this is just more vintage Cold War agitation by veteran Nato hands for job security, as the EU is getting an avalanche of propaganda painting a dire portrait of a "revanchist Russia", bursting over its borders and launching its own "Operation Barbarossa" against European states.

Some things just never change.

Foreign Affairs has its moments but it, like, doesn’t resonate with me.

As for Europe, I think that endless era of constant warfare is over so the paramount need for the US is gone. Commercially, there are alternatives.

That said, a responsible EU should start distancing from the US. Whether they actually do the smart, responsible thing, who knows. Odds are probably against it. The corrupting private interests are too pro-US…

To both you and Lance

on the push from Russia

to take Europe.

Russia is recruiting

men, 18 and above,

from poverty stricken

areas in the world, to

come to Russia to work;

in fact training for war.

AP had a good article

on this last week, but it

didn't go deep enough.

Reuters had a little

more on this last week

as well.

ISW reports Lavarov/

Russia says they will

"rebuild" their military

to 400 thousand.

You must remember

who Putin, Lavarov,

Medevrov - not sure of

the spelling on these

last 2 - thugs are and

were; KGB to the bone.

This is why it's

imperative Ukraine wins

this "special operation";

southern flank of

Russia and buttress to

Europe.

Last para. "beating back...": yes, and the US did this. All Americans should sit with that.

There was a huge peaceful turnout for the Seahawks' parade in Seattle. It was estimated at 1,000,000. We can do this, fellow citizens. We can show up and stand up against this.

Wait, who are we rooting for? Isn’t the NFL part of the problem?

Re: the latest in dismissals of DHS "felony" cases in MPLS...the Substack writer Michael Sellers has complete coverage of the case involving two Venezuelan immigrants, originally accused of attacking fed agents with "brooms and snow shovels" during an attempt to arrest them. Much as the Martinez case in Chicago, the fed case was nothing more than a farrago of lies, which gained huge notoriety outside the courtroom, but quickly and ignominiously fell apart once legal procedures were enacted...surprise-surprise, NOT!

Re: Judge James Boasberg...the trump regime, in their seemingly open-ended tussles with the Judge, has enlisted several members of Congress to "demand" impeachment of Boasberg on a variety of "trumped-up" charges, none of which have gone anywhere, except on right-wing media. The judge is fighting a losing battle, though, as the DCC has continuously stymied him, and any threat of contempt charges will go the same way.

What this long, drawn-out, and sordid episode in jurisprudence has shown is the Executive can thwart and ignore court orders indefinitely, reducing "the rule of law" to a mere formality, honored only in the breach.
