Institute for the Study of War/ISW had a very interesting report on the problems Russia's having, not just with their drones, but importantly the age of drone operators and lack of training and experience. They've lost so many to this war, they are recruiting from colleges; 100k sign up

bonus.

Have a good weekend everyone.

"Close elections are what social scientists call overdetermined" meaning too many factors - love that!

Given the politics involved, these stories about "Russian drones...Nato country...possible targeting....etc., etc." require sober assessments, rather than the familar post-Cold War reflexive bogey-manning aimed at "revanchist Russia". Facile interpretations of events that have alternate explanations, especially involving UAVs, whose trajectories can be hacked, and whose markings and origins can be rather easily changed.

More importantly, Ukraine has been trying to enlist *direct* Nato involvement in combatting Russian attacks since trump 2.0, and the concomitant sharp drop in US materiel support. Nothing like building up "Russian probing actions" against Baltic or Eastern European Nato members to grab headlines and juice up more Nato involvement.
