Overwhelmed by today's MM, David, as there's hours worth of newsy items to pore over, especially the link to TPM's Scotus "citizenship" hearing, where of course Justice Alito is beclowning himself. Ironically enough, the NYT this a.m. ran a lengthly and well-researched piece on the immigrant origins of several notable Americans, including Alito. In the article the Times showed the draft card of Alito's father — also called Samuel — where he listed his birthplace as Trenton, NJ rather than his true birthplace, Ancona, Italy. Wait, lying on a federal form? Good Heavens, strip him of his naturalization! Not a "true" American!

See how that works, Sammie?

No end to the degradation and shame. 'Birthright citizenship' challenge reminds me of the challenge for presidential immunity -- also supposedly a slam dunk.

About "Trump Issues Wild New EO on Voting" - you neglected to add at least one other violently illegal aspect of his EO. Per Heather Cox Richardson's morning newsletter today:

"Nonetheless, Trump is ordering the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to work with the Social Security Administration to create a list of verified U.S. citizens who are eligible to vote in each state. The order directs the U.S. Postal Service to send mail-in ballots only to voters on the list, and to mark each ballot with its own unique barcode. It threatens any states refusing to cooperate with the order with a loss of federal funding and directs Attorney General Pam Bondi to investigate anyone wrongfully distributing mail-in ballots. Aaron Reichlin-Melnick of the American Immigration Council notes that 'there is no such thing as a federal list of citizens. It does not exist.' ”

This would rip the veil of secrecy from the ballot, allowing Trump's goons to identify who every mail-in voter voted for. It would violate the secrecy of the Social Security database. And, of course, Trump has zero authority over any aspect of elections. The whole thing is wildly unconstitutional.

If it makes one feel better, that disgrace re the Apache pilots is just of the fine Trump White Privilege needed to make America great again, like it was in the Gilded Age when America was last per the Republicans (not just the pedophile POTUS) great.

As for Kid Rock calling Newsom shit for brains, that’s the projection needed to (and I quote myself) make America great again, like it was in the Gilded Age when America was last per the Republicans (not just the pedophile POTUS) great.

This guy is the epitome of the bad major and has no qualifications at all to have risen higher than that.

I'll go back to this article for needed review! Thanks, David. A LOT to take in! I hope this pedofelon-in-chief will have a stroke the next time a judge rules against him. Executive Orders are not laws!
