Just a reminder that the GOP has been highly intolerant of dissent since the 1960s so Trump turning dissent into a capital crime is a much smaller leap than one might think.
Great to see that the Big Media defenders of democracy and truth tellers and stuff are reporting this as the huge scandal is, right, they’re not???
"A least four top career officials in the criminal section of the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division have resigned in protest over the department’s handling of the fatal ICE shooting of Renee Good in Minneapolis. Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Harmeet Dhillon decided not to investigate the shooting even though law enforcement shootings are the bread-and-butter work of that unit."
Most interesting. First off, that four top officials have resigned over DoJ's handling of the shooting (i.e. to not investigate it at all), two things occur to me. First, the evidence against Ross in the FBI's possession must be damning, as it seems to be to me just from what's been publicly released. DoJ and HHS are claiming that the bullet hole in the front windshield proves that the car was aimed at Ross when the shot was fired, and that the shot was fired from in front of the car. In point of fact, a line-of-sight from the bullet hole to where the driver's head would have been, then followed back to the point of origination, proves that the shot was fired from beside the car, not in front of it. (Thanks to attorney Keith Barber on Substack.) That shot was followed by two more through the driver's door window. At no time was Ross' life in any danger, and absolutely not at the times when any of the shots were fired. Seems to me that DoJ would like to cover that up by sitting on the evidence, but the evidence already in the public domain is by itself damning.
Second, since DoJ will not investigate, they can put forth no reasonable argument for not providing all of the evidence they have to the upcoming Minnesota investigation. If they won't do it voluntarily, they can be compelled by Minnesota. If they claim that it relates to their investigation of Ms Good's background, that's plain nonsense - evidence related to the shooting itself is not part of her background, and that's what they are investigating, not the shooting. And Ross' background is not particularly clean.
The Administration appears to have moved well beyond Goebbels, and is now deep into Orwellian lying territory.
Rubio thinks the arrest of Maduro makes it impossible to conduct hearings in Venezuela? I thought the US, and possibly Rubio himself, is RUNNING Venezuela. Not sure this "stymies" Boasberg.
And the arsonist was perturbed by a synagogue's "Jewish ties?" We need to know what school "educated" this idiot.
This reporting is critical for understanding how institutional norms actually break down in real time. The mass resignations show something we dont talk about enough: career officials leaving sends a signal thats way more powerful than any public statement. I remeber watching similar patterns during other DOJ controversies, and the aftermath always reveals just how much quiet resistance was happening behind the scenes. These folks resigning over the ICE shooting investigation tells you everything about where the red lines actually are.
On behalf of thousands of my fellow graduates of Dartmouth College, I disavow any connection whatsoever to Harmeet Dhillon. She brings nothing but shame and disrespect to the College on the Hill.
Violence, rioting, obstruction of law enforcement, blocking emergency services, and intimidation or threats are not protected under the First Amendment.
Speech or conduct that impedes lawful government processes is not protected. Thus, interfering with arrests or investigations, encouraging witnesses to lie, flee, or destroy evidence, coordinating efforts to block court proceedings, and inciting others to prevent law enforcement from performing legal duties.

Ah, Mississippi, a state with even lower rates of educational competence than mine, Tennessee 😵💫
