Thanks to MM esp. for the video clip of 3 Yale profs, leaving for overseas. "Required Reading" [should be]: HOW THE SOUTH WON THE CIVIL WAR, by HCRichardson, historian. The book, properly, focuses on the continuing civil war [ dating back at least to New Deal] by oligarchs vs. the rest of us, using racism, misogyny and on as armaments.
Our PBS station in St. Louis hosts a long running local round table of journalists called Donnybrook. Last week Ed Martin’s buffoonish behavior from his Missouri “days” was discussed. No one thought he could be worse than when he was a Missouri fixture. It is sad and painful to watch and experience the rise of local corruption (the more corrupt the better) in our federal government under the Trump regime.
Thx for the NYY vid. They were criticized in some circles for bailing on the US. I found their reasoning, something they learned from the countries they studied, to have a safe space established for preserving the US' liberal democracy persuasive.
“The law is now a tool to serve Trump” the way the law or abuse, perverting or ignoring the law has been a tool of the Roberts court to implement GOP policies.
Is there anyone in the Trump administration, or in the entire Republican Party, who is not a Yahoo? Today I am nominating Lee Zeldin, whose EPA plans to allow more PFOAs and PFAs in our water.
I think what they really want control of is the Congressional Research Services. I used to use CRS heavily and it is literally the brains of Congress as well as an early warning system on what topics congressmen are seeking information about . For example, if you saw a flurry of reports on cyber warfare in elections, you would be justified in concluding people in Congress are worried about elections here and abroad. I believe, that CRS cannot refuse requests but the wording and even the content of reports might be edited to exclude DEI terms (as an example). An unscrupulous CRS head could really do a lot of damage I think in filtering what our Congress reads.

Good work, David and MM!
Gotta love the tepid "push back" from Thune and Cruz🙄

Thank you David for a
really good MM.
Especially the video of
3 very learned
professors.
Martin is a disgrace. An
absolute, bottom
dwelling disgrace.

In addition to being understaffed, some NOAA facilities have to clean their own toilets.
