Only judges like Guaderrama are standing firm as the guardrails now.
Worse yet, DHS is still pursuing a "Gitmo" strategy for third-country siting of "detention centers" that are beyond the reach of federal courts. A solicitation for a "1000-bed" center located in as yet unidentified overseas "partners" apparently is under active consideration, which really demands the obvious answer: Why are deportees to be incarcerated in countries wholly unrelated to their original homeland, instead of simply flown back to pre-migration homes? What possibly is gained by imprisonment abroad, ostensibly while the deportee is awaiting "permission" by his/her home country to return?
Dozens of flights a week are leaving the US for Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, et al without the niceties of "permission" by the relevant authorities, and this scheme of overseas detention is further evidence of the Kafkaesque procedural hurdles imposed upon bewildered immigrants caught up in ICE/CBP dragnets, in efforts t to skirt US constitutional protections...yes indeed, cruelty is in fact the point.

Exactly. Again and again cruelty is the only point. Just as in TPS cases. There's no other reason to destroy these people's lives other than the administration seems to take great pleasure in doing so
