Re the election: My recollection is that pollsters in 2024 predicted neither a lot of normally Democratic voters voting for Trump nor a huge number of D voters not voting. So, you know, not having a clue for explaining 2025 is, like, on brand.
My inclination is to credit a lot of voters regretting their votes or lack thereof last year and now are really scared of Trump and by his fully submissive, enabling party. Of course, time will tell if I’m on to something or full of shit.
Re tariffs: I have no faith in the Roberts junta to come down on the Fuhrer. Maybe a decision essentially saying that he can’t impose them this way but can this other way. But a decision conforming with the law ie saying that Congress sets tariffs, not POTUS full stop, that I don’t expect. Again, time will tell.
As for the Heritage brouhaha, I guess the Zionism=Judaism bullshit is a tricky line to push. Conservatives lean to some degree or another of being anti-Jewish while supporting far right Zionists.
