Re: tRump interfering in companies' businesses...the latest outrage is that tRump demands a 15% "cut" of chip sales to China delivered by Nvidia and AMD! Allegedly, this export "tax" is said to go to the Treasury in exchange for granting the export license, but who's to say that tRump doesn't take a vig off the top as "contributions" to his "presidential liberry", ffs. Does anyone put this past the grifting felon?
Also, the three-judge panel of the DC Circuit that ruled cruelly against Chief Judge Boasberg by a 2-1 vote, included this gem from tRumpy judge Neomi Rao, who said in effect, "better to rule against Judge Boasberg than to invite a constitutional crisis if he went ahead with a contempt order". Uh, OK, but this IS the constitutional question, for god's sake! A runaway executive who heeds NO court order!
What he doesn't like he either ignores or uses delaying tactics to run out the clock. Say what you will about Trump, he is the greatest master of innovative legal tactics the White House has ever seen.
His legal team have turned the time-honored "presumption of regularity" on its head, which in and of itself is a yuuge break with legal precedence, but tRump long ago decided that "fuck the judges" is the preferred Roy Cohn technique in state courtrooms, so he's giving it a protracted test-drive in federal courts. And much to his surprise, the tactic is working, so, yeah, let's go with it!
A “Constitutional crisis” sounds good to me right now! Obviously, assuming these judges are above any political feelings or personal adulation of governmental personages is a really silly assumption!
When, and if, this attack is eventually turned back, The Six will need to be dragged out of the Supreme Theocratic Court and tried with the rest of the MAGAts who participated in the treasonous coup and held to account at Nuremburg 2.0 during the detrumpification process to not only remove all the dug in parasites but also to assure this never happens again. It will be a long process to unfuck the system, undo rules and rulings, repeal and rewrite laws, perhaps amend the constitution, reinstate fired employees and overturned policies, reconstitute illegally terminated departments and boards, and basically rip up and replace all evidence of the junta's malfeasance.
Trump 2.0 really stress-tested our democracy and showed weaknesses we have to fix to avoid this happening again. That is of course, if we survive this regime and ever get back into power again which is not a sure thing.
Yeah! I’m really looking forward to some takedowns of judges who have obviously been counting on their “for life” positions provided by an outdated reverence for the “educated” man! Education does not equal quality of character! Never has and never will!
I think the original sin was the unchallenged invocation of the AEA. Not much hope the Roberts Court majority will fail to support the Administration's view on Boasberg's orders.
The periodic reminder that some courts s***ing on the law to promote party goals is one thing. But courts being concerned of the risk of too many decisions ignored by the mobster Trump is a very serious problem. That is, sometimes the courts are doing legitimately awful stuff — the Roberts junta’s attack on voting rights for one — and sometimes it’s choosing the lesser of two abominable evils. The Boasberg contempt thing is that to a degree.
Also a reminder to try not to lose focus and respond hysterically to things.
The Boasberg contempt of court case is huge. I pray the full Circuit Court of Appeals will reverse. But then, the Supreme Court? I feel like our democracy is at stake.
well, the actions in the JGG case may go unpunished, but not uninvestigated thanks to Boasberg's care. I don't know how much detail he went into in his probable cause ruling. But mandamus just says he has to dismiss a contempt action (which when you get down to it, hasn't actually happened yet) but not that he can't TALK about it. I'd like to see him give a lengthy order of dismissal detailing everything that remotely suggested probable cause and simply say that such was no enough so he isn't going to HOLD a contempt hearing. There really isn't anything to "dismiss" other than the scheduled hearing. So if the government wants to refute his findings they'll have to figure out a way other than a hearing to do it.
"It’s hard to overstate the significance of Friday’s appeals court ruling by two Trump appointees short-circuiting the criminal contempt of court proceeding in the Alien Enemies Act case."
So what is the remedy for the failing, corrupt federal judicial system, post-Trump? Do we just turn a blind eye to what a mockery Trump judges have made of the rule of law? Post-Trump should we assume that all Trump appointed judges (e.g. Cannon) will either resign or cooperate with an investigation into federal judiciary corruption?
Dems. need to have a plan!
What remedy would retired federal judges recommend?

I don't know about anyone else but I seriously underestimated him. I thought he was like a severe flu, it turned out he was more like cholera.

In two simple sentences, you summed up this whole shitstorm!
The Boasberg ruling, NG
coming into DC, FBI to
join DC police on night
patrols and gee whiz, to
cap off the week, we
have Vlad the cad Putin,
meeting with his BFF in
Alaska, USA! Whose
brainy idea was that?!
Good luck reporting
news this week David.
Yikes.
Until these judges put people in jail, even if only until they can make bail, they are just flapping their gums.

Hate saying something like this on a Monday but…

Feels like a message from God and he’s made it quite clear that, this time, he’s done with the warnings!

Excellent play on words w the headline “capitulation for the ages”. The original quote still irks.
