Nice reporting. I appreciate you calling out the mainstream media for their supposedly fair and balanced reporting. I’m pretty sure that firing the voices that call it as they see it and hiring ones that placate the administration won’t make any media organizations more palatable to anyone but the truly biased viewers. It appears that Woody Allen was right, commentary and dissent have merged to become dysentery.
Do I like Morning Memo? It is the one review of the news available to me that I believe is credible and read avidly each and every day. Thank you, today, for tying the ridiculous and ultimately devastating destruction of the FBI to the difficulty of tracking down Kirk's killer. By the way, I was not aware of Kirk, and I consider myself a widely read person and what Trump would probably call a far left liberal. Perhaps I read about Kirk in the aftermath of the election as an orhanizer of young me, but he wasn't a personality I ever followed. I suspect this is true of most people in my political category, so accusing us of plotting his death is as wacky as Trump usually is.
My concern is that the White House will use it as an excuse to send the National Guard pretty much everywhere. After all, if deep-red rural Utah isn't safe, they'll say, then the rest of America must be worse.
Hilarious to read the remarks of prominent far-right militia groups calling for"revenge against the violent left-wingers" who these neo-Nazis hold responsible for Kirk's death...who says irony is dead in tRumpy America?
Why doesn't he take them to task instead of dealing with factual misrepresentation by using a euphemism? Bad acts should have consequences and the judge should not lower the bar for counsel appearing before him and indulgently letting such slide?
"Outside of the hotheaded reactions, it was striking that some mainstream news outlets veered into lionizing Kirk despite his extreme politics. At MSNBC, commentator Matthew Dowd was fired for inartful on-air comments that noted Kirk’s extremism, despite his apology that he hadn’t intended to blame Kirk for his own shooting."
The mainstream news "veer into lionizing Kirk" is really more typical than striking. In the USA, a celebrity's violent death always produces instant retroactive canonization. No media maven would dare point out that the SOB had it coming, even if he did. (Please note that this is a general observation, not a specific characterization of Charlie Kirk.) Mainstream media live and die by the old Latin motto, "De mortuis nil nisi bonum": Speak no ill of the dead.
Yes. I am a diehard MSNBC watcher, but I could hardly stomach it last night. I remarked this morning that the best comment on Kirk’s death was from Matthew Dowd. Then come to find out he was fired for it. Geez. Unlike thousands of children lost to gun violence—according to the late Mr Kirk, the price we pay for freedom—Kirk was not an innocent. He stoked the hatred and violence that ultimately claimed his own life. Just sayin’.
Please don't use my name as a pejorative - especially when associating it with Donald Trump! It's lazy and offensive. "Pushing" is a perfectly good word that conveys the same idea.

👏
Love Morning Memo. Thank you.
Excellent, as usual. Thank you for great reporting.
Send the National Guard into the crime-ridden hell-hole of Orem, Utah!

We've entered a fact-free world. Any country that's set its military against its citizens has failed, full stop.
Very true.

In yesterday’s hearing, U.S. District Judge Tim Kelly noted how the government’s representations have “evolved.”
Judge-speak for: "The bastards lied, now they're copping to the truth".

And sayin' it very well indeed!
There is no radical left in US.
Exactly
How about finding the shooter before searching for blame in your supposed enemies, Mr President. Or send National Guard into Orem Utah?
Please do not use the name Karen as slur!
