Kudos on the ‘accountability blitz’ it’s clear — “stick to the fact” moment — perhaps the federal judiciary may hold🙏 Always excellent writing. Thank you

We aren't talking about Epstein, now, are we?

Thanks for this news roundup, much of it more bracing than many weeks recently.

No, apparently, we're now talking about Epshteyn .

Thank you David. Perfect way to start the week.

Wonder if Trump knows how to spell accountability.

Could it finally be that accountability is coming for Trump's corrupt regime? Or is that hoping for too much?

The ever-presence of the inscrutable Mr Epshteyn, last heard from as a rumored "non-indicted co-conspirator" in several cases brought against the trump crowd following the 2020 elections and subsequent attempts to interfere with several states' election results unfavorable to trump, once again surfaces as a key "legal" player in a disreputable trump "deal" — or self-dealing, as it were.

"Boris" is usually found well behind the scenes when any conniving is afoot which would benefit his "client", and here he is again, well-placed in serving trump in a wholly predictable manner, which is to say on the wrong side of legality.

But, one does have to admire Epshteyn's loyalty and "originality" in confecting and managing schemes on trump's behalf over many years, and one presumes that he is amply compensated for his service.

Graham Platner, WTF? Before Trump this was a deal breaker. Now I’m not sure. Are we past expecting smart, honest politicians? Can he still compete?

so, if trump appeals a decision by Williams that there was no case of controversy, will DOJ have to recuse itself from defending the appeal? Will the IRS have to find outside counsel? Can Williams appoint special counsel to handle any appeal by trump?

Re: accountability...the afore-mentioned 11th CA is soon to release its ruling on fed. judge Aileen Cannon's persistence in blocking publication of Special Prosecutor Jack Smith's "Mar-a-Lago Documents" investigation against trump and several of his employees, the court proceedings of which were terminated immediately after trump was sworn into office Jan., 2025.

Smith's report is analogous to the Mueller Report on Russian interference in the 2016 election, and there is no conceivable reason for Cannon to sit on Smith's report other than grossly partisan conduct, and it appears that the 11th CA may well demand the report's unsealing and dissemination, full stop.

This post made my day. You go, Judge Williams, and strong winds at the back of all who have finally woken up to the fact that this administration is not normal, no matter how MAGA tries to spin it.

For another view on the trump-IRS "settlement" issue, here's a conservative lawyer's take, for those prepared to venture deep into the legal weeds regarding the case:
