Thanks for the link to the Timothy Snyder essay. Definitely worth a "must read"!

Just some feedback: I don’t have a Twitter (X) account so am unable to see entire threads, just the first post that you have on morning memo. Today on Morning Memo there are two instances of X threads with only the initial post shown. If you’re going to refer to an X thread, would you consider showing the entire thread, please.

Just came here to say this, and there’s no way I’m returning to Twitter. I’d so appreciate it if the author would use the thread reader app to create a linked page where we can read the whole thread off of Twitter. 🙏

Lol same here, I don’t want to go exploring twitter either. I posted the same comment before I saw yours.

Fully concur, as pre-Musk Twitter would allow full threads and rollups to be viewed by non-members...now, nothing but the opening post...and, no, I won't sign up just to read complete threads.

Yeah I maintained my Twitter account for exactly this reason, not saying you should get one, only saying I find it really frustrating also.

Thanks David for the Professor Tim Snyder inclusion. He's brilliant and

has published some fantastic

pod casts and lectures on Ukraine; its history, people and current war.

Prof. Snyder's thesis essentially says that to deny the applicability of the 14th Amendment § 3 to tRump is to create a "tRump exception", because of alleged "harm to the voters" if he's struck off states' ballots. Which is how "centrists" and their ilk are hand-wringing about, but knowing full well that tRump will NOT accept defeat at the ballot box in 2024, exactly as he denied losing in 2020. How in the hell does this "preserve democracy" to allow this insurrectionist on the ballot so he can AGAIN run rampant against our Constitution?

I actually started to read tRump’s written argument (what was I thinking?). I didn’t get very far without laughing because he has paid googobs of money to these lawyers and if I were on the Court of Appeals it would take no time at all to strike down his looong argument. It say for his “official acts”…these acts were not official. Believe that has already been concluded.

Maybe I’m inept but I couldn’t read the twitter thread at the end of the letter just the main tweet. I’m not on twitter (obvs) and couldn’t get any other tweets or comments to turn up. But it sure looked interesting.

Great morning memo btw! I enjoy your quick and concise roundup of the news. I hope you are recovering from your injury well and happy new year.
