Yet again: I don’t want to hear about Trump et al pissing off MAGAts without the qualification that no one knows if it matters til it’s proven in nationwide elections.
As for the suit against the district courts, I guess maybe we should know by now that there’s at least four votes on the Roberts junta to let Donny engage in all the lawlessness he wants. Besides, it implements party goals otherwise unreachable through the rule of law and free elections. Broken eggs and omelets and all that.
I also think maybe the ur-question of how our leadership class failed to see all this coming to: Who among them saw it and is cool with it?
In their dissent re: the *DVD* case, and the majority over-riding district-court TROs against flying imprisoned immigrants to "third-country" hellholes, the three liberal Justices made the exact point that these "pro-tRump" decisions greatly undercut the work of the lower fed courts, who have been-near unanimous in ruling against constitutional depredations and outright lawlessness by the tRump regime. The six reactionaries are in effect joining DOJ and DHS in flagrantly ignoring or disobeying district-court judgments against deportation without due process, and casting their lower-court colleagues in a diminished and derogatory light by continually over-ruling the thoughtful, lengthly, and indisputably sound decisions that those district judges placed on the record.
My point til I got bored making it is that lovely or affirming or whatever the lower court decisions have been, as a rule they’re meaningless given the Robert’s junta’s putting the implementation of party goals before the rule of law.
The minority on SCOTUS will be putting a lot of energy into pissing into the wind I mean reminding us what we’ve lost and aren’t going to get back for a very long time if at all.
The Robert’s court was pulling shit even before 2016 with near complete disregard from the Democrats — and there’s no meaningful change there.
Well, clearly not enough of us serfs had a functional bullshit detector when needed.
Too, the new question concedes that a group of the fuckers did anticipate this shit that’s going on but is completely cool with what’s happening. I mean, it’s all part of the sociopathic greed thing so if a little fascism and lawlessness enriches one, what’s the problem?
Mike Johnson touts himself as a Christian above all. He needs to be asked in public how the "Big Beautiful Bill" is consistent with his Christian beliefs. So should every other CongressCritter who voted for this abomination.
I offer this quote from Rev. Jim Wallis: Christianity is not a religion that gives some people a ticket to heaven and makes them judgmental of all others. Rather, it’s a call to a relationship that changes all our other relationships.
Speaking of Republican State Representative Jack McFarland's statement worrying about people dying when rural hospitals close down, HE IS PARTLY RESPONSIBLE. Here's his facebook post from April 9th, 2025:
"Governor Jeff Landry appointed me to the Louisiana DOGE Team. Let's cut the waste and make our state government more efficient!"
I think of her as Pam BondiDon. I heard a story of masked folks wearing ICE stuff (purchasable on Amazon) apprehending other masked folks wearing ICE stuff. When the second group yelled "We're ICE" the first group said "No, WE'RE ICE." The bystanders just stood by. I doubt the story is true, but it is actually a great idea for those willing to risk the Wrath of BondiDon--and who knows--group two may actually not BE ICE officers.
You can thank your fellow American MAGA for all these attacks by the current administration on our institutions. This isn't some fluke or mistake. This is intensional.
Dave your Article covers an action that leaped off the headlines to me as also. I think the Roberts Court has signed Trump repeatedly that they've got his back when the lower courts impede him. They did this most strongly in the recent DVD v DHS decision
OK, DOJ sued in Maryland, the proper venue, but who is going to HEAR the case?
I couldn't wade through all the verbiage of that complaint, but it looks like DOJ is arguing that despite the Extreme's holding that migrants can file habeas petitions, the federal courts have no jurisdiction to hear such petitions?
All this fuss about a 48 hour pause before they can whisk a migrant away? Irreparably harmed because they don't have enough beds in MD? Uh, ever heard of a motel?

"Rule of law" ends at the SCOTUS doorstep.

Hear, hear! Your last Q to leadership class is exactly right. Esp. since many of us serfs predicted most, if not all, the depravity.
Well, clearly not enough of us serfs had a functional bullshit detector when needed.

I'm not the village moron, but can't claim I saw all this coming. It's far worse than I thought it would be or even could be.
Agreed.
That was and has been my problem: Foreseeing how low Donny can go. It’s hard as well as pretty pointless.
Meanwhile, I have to credit Mr Markets for calling out Saturday’s bombings as mostly a nothingburger before the media did.

I learn as much from the comments as I do from TPM. Thanks to all

1 of the biggest lies
spoken yesterday was
by DOJ Pam Bonnie who
said she had not seen
ICE agents were wearing
masks. But, maybe she's
not lying, 'cause perhaps
they're not legally ICE
agents. 😳
