Camp East Montana detention center at Fort Bliss is apparently a privately run facility, though on federal land. As far as I can tell, there is NO immunity, qualified or Supremacy clause, that applies to private contractors or their employee. I hope that the family of the man who was strangled can find counsel willing to sue the bejaysus out of both contractor and guards for wrongful death. If the govt won't release its autopsy report, what a jury will hear is the one we know about. It doesn't have to be murder (the coroner found "homicide" which isn't actually just murder) --you can sue for accidental death.
The verbatim hearing cited above in MN Fed. Judge Blackwell‘s court on ICE/the govt. non-compliance with five separate petitioners' demand for judicial relief in habeas filings is an extraordinary window into incompetence, deliberate foot-dragging, and outright disobediences surrounding multiple court orders of "immediate" release and blocking of transport of illegally detained immigrants to out-of-state confinement preparatory to palpably illegal deportation. It must be read in its entirety to appreciation the utter chaos, deliberate or otherwise, that has characterized "Operation Metro Surge", and by extension, to other jurisdictions across the country where ICE/CBP are operating, and gives vivid meaning to the term "shit-show", and that's a charitable description. Well worth a read for a chilling, behind-the-scenes peek at your government at work.

There are "red lines" for people in govt. not to cross under penalty of dismissal or legal sanctions, and then again there are Ed Martin red lines, which only result in moves within the trump regime. Ol' Ed was seen down in MAL last week, dining with his patron, and sorting out his next appointment to create more mischief and grief for those he targets.
As I commented elsewhere, Martin is like a slick of dog shit on the sole of one's shoe — hard to scrape off, and the stench lingers forever.
