One of the grimmer news days since Election Day...*Judge* Cannon making a last-minute, high-profile bid to gain tRump's full allegiance, and a quickie nomination to an appellate judgeship, or even a candidate-in-waiting when either Alito or Thomas step down. Just a judicial clusterfuck, any way one slices it.
Can’t wait to see if the Roberts court gets involved with Friday’s NYS sentencing.
There would be no legal basis and very close to no argument for getting involved.
Now, I’d they were a junta…
As for Zuckerberg: I’m sure someone can explain to me why being on Xitter’s bad but being on a sociopathic network controlled by a Peter Thiel protege is acceptable.
I could make a case that long before Big Business was submitting to Trump, we were submitting to our fascistic masters. Of course, a lot of the time, not submitting was not an acceptable option. But a lot of times it was. Yeah, I could make the case but yesterday I inadvertently hurt someone’s feelings so I want to take the day off from triggering people.
Great articles By TPM and others , I have nothing to say about Cannon except couldn't be a traffic court judge here . Or Scotutrumps , little faith in them very little . I can say if this is what money can do to people happy i am not rich . Because my soul would never be for sale . Mark z's was which shows he has no emotion , soul , or care about himself or others in the family . So how can he love the country he couldn't . We know leon doesn't . Like I have said all along , anyone that didn't see this coming needs to read more , Me having been in the republican party saw it coming and left the party . Hoping stumpy wouldn't be elected first time . We all need to take some from the gop playbook , We have all been to nice , It is time for dems to play hardball like gop. Great post and read ,David .Keep up the good work
if Mr Roberts had a shred of judicial ethics left that has not been completely eroded, then he must refuse to administer the oath of office to trump. He is clearly and unequivocally not eligible to hold the office given his established participation in an insurrection (Jan 6th commission hearing report, CO ballot case, and likely Jack Smith case status reort) per Sec 3 Of the 14th A. No requirement for "executing legislation" exists ( except in a non binding dicta in the CO ballot case which is merely a conservative fantasy). Last time I checked, there no "optional clauses" in the constitution. It is simple, you must born here, over 35, and not have participated in insurrection to take the oath of office.
Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito has admitted to a private phone call with Donald Trump mere hours before Trump petitioned the court to block his criminal sentencing in the hush money case. Trump’s MO of private calls as a tool for political manipulation? It’s back, and now it’s tangled in the highest court of the land.
Let’s break it down:
The Call: Alito says the chat was about recommending a former clerk for a job. Convenient, right? Yet, not long after, Trump’s lawyers filed an emergency Supreme Court request. Coincidence? Or a chilling abuse of power?
The Implications: This isn’t just about Alito’s questionable ethics or Trump’s blatant disregard for the rule of law. This is about a Supreme Court that increasingly looks less like a check on power and more like a collaborator in Trump’s autocratic playbook.
This isn’t Alito’s first ideological alignment with Trump. Remember Dobbs v. Jackson, which gutted federal abortion rights? Or the court’s ruling granting Trump “presidential immunity”? Alito has been a steadfast ally in reshaping the nation’s legal landscape to fit the far-right’s vision.
🚩 Why This Matters No nation can survive as a democracy if its judiciary operates in the shadows, immune to scrutiny and driven by partisan interests. A justice entertaining private conversations with a litigant—especially one whose political future hinges on the court—is the stuff of autocracies, not constitutional republics.
The court’s approval is at a historic low—40% approval, 60% disapproval—and for good reason. With Trump set to re-enter the presidency and a court seemingly in his pocket, democracy isn’t just in distress. It’s on life support. •••• https://substack.com/@patricemersault
Every one of these stories are so consequential it's overwhelming. I had the same thought about SCOTUS. This ruling will tell us just how in the tank they are. If they dare to apply their unconstitutional immunity ruling to a state case pertaining to behavior and evidence before he was ever POTUS then we'll know they are completely gone. Let's just say I'm not hopeful. And does U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon answer to ANYONE? She is so off the rails. We're in deeply uncharted waters these days. I've always felt that climate change is the preeminent issue because nothing else will matter if the world is on fire. A close friend lost her beloved home that she has worked so hard to purchase and maintain - it is her only true asset - in the L.A. fire today. Putting a climate denier back in the WH at this critical juncture is a profound form of reckless denial. For those who sat home, thanks for nothing.

Louisiana has outdone itself once again! Let's see if SCOTUS can degrade themselves even further.

As to Zuckerberg, Mark has gone to the the seditionist side and taken Fleecebook, Insta-Lles & Threadbare into the anti-social media abyss.
Mark arranged to have a Kool-Aid drinker appointed to the META corp controlling board.
I think we all know how this ends.
Without us, he’s nothing.
So why are we still on a Meta sociopath network?
He and Musk make TikTok look like the least bad option.
Blue skies, nothing but, Blue Sky🦋
