"WaPo: How DOGE’s grand plan to remake Social Security is backfiring"

Gee. I wonder what's behind that paywall that I am definitely NOT spending money on. I am not going to support that rag until Bezos sells it to people who want to commit journalism.

Please quote them instead if you can.

How can you “haul in” someone “voluntarily”? Hauling in implies force. Volunteering implies the opposite.

The OCG case: the cruelty is the point. They got what they pursued.

Can anyone seriously believe that the acutely wronged Kilmar Abrego Garcia will EVER be repatriated to the US? It's just heartbreaking to read how his case has gone through the courtrooms of two federal judges, both of whom have strongly condemned the government for its own admittedly "mistaken" deportation of the man to the CECOT Salvadoran gulag — or whatever facility he's currently imprisoned — and yet there Abrego Garcia remains, while the tRump gang elevates legal stonewalling to a fine art.

Sure, maybe presiding Judge Paula Xinis finally has enough, and after weeks of jousting with DOJ house lawyers, she's moving toward issuing contempt citations...but then what? More appeals? More delays?

More gamesmanship? The tRump DOJ just doesn't give two shits for "presumption of regularity", and unless SCOTUS takes it upon itself to directly order the return of Abrego Garcia — highly unlikely for a variety of reasons — the man is toast, full stop.

As horrible an assemblage of willing and empowered purveyors of cruelty, corruption and unconstitutional and/or extra-legal actions, that the nation has ever been afflicted with.

It occurs to me - speaking of Reconciliation - I hear lots and lots of chatter about cuts to Medicaid. A word that I don't hear used much at all is "Obamacare", although with the Media being so compromised so quickly that's not really surprising. The whole shameful "shock and awe" thing is actually workinf, isn't it - so much going on very little can actually be reported or acted upon.

Anyway, my question - I associate Obamacare with Medicaid and Medicaid expansion.

Anyway, it occurred tp me as a bolt from the blue - Is all this talk about Medicaid cuts really about Obamacare but they're not allowed to identify it as such? - or are the Medicaid cuts from different non-Obamacare parts of Medicaid?

Anybody know and able to address this!

for the life of me, no one has yet explained how the following can occur:

a) Congress sets up an independent agency and says in the law that the head can only be fired for cause

b) The president's job is to faithfully execute the laws and

c) the president can ignore the requirement of "cause" and fire at whim.

Further, now that we are seeing the effects in real time, WHAT is the appeal of the idea of the unitary executive??

Why are Thomas and Alito such bottom feeding scum suckers? No one has to tell me who the two dissenters were! You’d think as they get closer to death, they would fear retribution from the God they claim to believe in. Despicable ass wipes!
