That last story made up for all the crap ahead of it. Thank you for that moment of sweetness and joy 🥰.

Looking at Rs in fed govt: "[B]ut embedded...an invading force." To all those who ever voted R -- you made this possible. To all those who called us alarmists and pessimists -- you made this possible. General strike, at a minimum, now.

I fear Democrats are not up to the fight. Instead of "we need to work with our republican colleagues" they should be "we do not negotiate with terrorists".

I think the tide is turning and it began with the leadership this time around. Granted there are still holdouts like Fetterman but we need to keep reminding them that we have their backs.

"All of these political attitudes are anathema to democratic governance, civil society, and the rule of law. It’s why the political fight of our time is so asymmetrical. Trump doesn’t care if he breaks government, leaves it in a shambles, or inflicts extreme collateral damage along the way. He’s taking the government hostage because he (rightly) believes Democrats care about it and want to save and preserve it."

It's the Frankenstein creation of the Reagan revolution and the final solution of Grover Norquist's sick anti-gov fantasies.

Project 2025 understands that removing health care from poor and elderly is a eugenic option for Medicare/Medicaid funding. If you're not working or have no family you're useless to the Tech-bros.

A dead-on accurate analysis. More importantly, because there are many 'accurate' ways to view this fiasco, it's an analysis that can inform effective action. We can't drag what's going on into our frame of reference, trying to make it intelligible. It's not intelligible it's insane.

Hence the failure of mainstream media to deal with it. And the relative success of those like Kimmel and Colbert and Stewart. The movement is profoundly sick and has a huge paranoid aspect to it. There are ways, highly indeterminant ways, in which that usually plays out.

Initially they win because they're nuts. They fight as though they're under attack when there's nothing to fight about at all, leaving the rest of wondering what the fuck. They win. Again because they're nuts. They become completely victorious. They control everything.

We're there now.

They keep fighting, like maniacs. Overreach. Because they're insane. Delusional. They're scared as shit. Fear and suspicion are a given. Therefore, aggression. And we're there now. They'll bring themselves down, with highly indeterminate effects and 'collateral' damage.

And an indeterminate outcome. Except that they will fail. People saw this for what it was years ago ...

Is trump under the impression that no civil servants voted for him? (yes, they all knew he was against their very existence, but when was voting against their own interests a rarity amongst trump voters?)

Does he think that no Republicans live in "blue" states or cities and might want to ride a subway, use a tunnel, or get cheaper electricity through a 'green' project?

That's our money, not theirs. If they're going to make these cuts, we should be receiving refunds so we can pay to provide the services we need locally.

Just sayin', it's not their money.

Great to see the Democrats supporting Trump’s current attacks on the government helped by the shutdown.

I mean, why end it when the Democrats can get nothing in exchange and such crumbs as they think they can get will be no electoral benefit which, you know, should be the goal.

Nah, better we get screwed and voters reminded that the national D’s are worthless.

It’s been a rough week for the nation and the national Democrats, as usual, have no interest in doing anything about it.
