I actually gasped a bit when I hit your news/

music analogy. Just beautiful. I love music; I’m also way liberal; I’m also literal, usually glomming onto lyrics that move me. I’ve never seen this analogy before, and I think it’s just about perfect. Thank you!

Following on the heels of today's Morning Memo and the war against the Black experience in America, "Easy" Ed Martin is back in the news again — has he ever left? — as the AP reports that ol' Ed is urging NY AG Tish James to "resign her office as an act of good faith", and then Ed would call off his "mortgage probe" directed against some property dealings of hers.

" Act of good faith" and Ed Martin don't belong in the same sentence.

Dude, you’re so behind the times: Breaking is Donny blackmailing someone to quit the FOMC so he can get another person on it willing to cut rates no matter the lack of economic justification or sanity:

https://www.reuters.com/world/us/trump-calls-fed-governor-cook-resign-2025-08-20/

“Trump on Wednesday called on Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook to resign, intensifying his effort to gain influence over the central bank on the basis of allegations made by one of his allies about mortgages Cook holds in Michigan and Georgia.”

Also, it should be noted that FR Gov. Lisa Cook is Black, joining Tish James as another Black woman under assault by this blatantly racist and criminal regime..."mortgage fraud" seems to be the charge du jour against Black people this crowd doesn't like.

I’m sure being a Black woman made it easier to target. When they get to honky men, they’ll have to work harder choose who to target.

But Donny needs the low low low interest rates so people working full time jobs for sub-living wages can fill the gap with cheap EZ credit.

Yes, like the "salary-advance" parasites preying upon over-extended workers.

You lost me. I have in mind mostly payday lenders and credit cards — rather, the carrying charges of the latter.

Unless payday parasites are what you’re getting at.

Easy credit post-2008 helped Obama screw workers.

And prolly later today tRump will "demand" the resignation of some college president or another, or "demand" the resignation of Boston Mayor Michelle Wu for solidifying the city's sanctuary policy, or he'll "demand" the resignation of [fill in the blank] for [fill in the blank]. A petty fascist's work is never done.

Just to be clear, to clear up any misunderstandings about the Trump government... The Trump Government comprises blatant racists, anti-intellectuals, incompetent managers, sexual deviants (you know, rapists and pedophiles), blind followers of a morally and intellectually corrupt President; and fundamentally immoral Stalinist wannabes. Republicanism is a disease. Republicans are diseased. And their leader is a vile, stupid lowlife who will kill tens of thousands more than he has already killed. Wait, make that hundreds of thousands more, if indeed not millions. And all with the support of half the American electorate who are so stupid and so willfully blind that they neither see nor smell the shit Trump is raining down on them. The other half better get its ass in gear, now, and act without compromise or mercy against those people who would subjugate us to the position of Stalinist or Maoist or Hitlerian peons and victims.

The idea that all these deep red, former Confederacy states should be sending their national guard contingents to DC is infuriating. What they couldn't do in the Civil War: to occupy and militarily dominate the city, they now have accomplished with the president's blessings. They might as well put stars and bars flags on all their vehicles and the same patches on their uniforms. We really should let the Southlands go their corrupt racist way. We'd be better off without them.

Thank you David for

your opening.

What's happening, we

must not forget, is how

fascism rolls. Yeah,

fascism is just

authoritarianism by

another name, but they

boil down to they same

freedom robbing thing.

I live in Arkansas and the

NW part of the state, the

very mountainous

Ozarks, are notorious for

their special

communities and red

neck militias. You can fly

over at low level and see

all the different

encampments. I'm in the

lower level mountains

above Hot Springs and

in a small multicultural

gated community; pretty

safe. Things lower down

have changed a lot

though in the last few

years and I don't roll,

now that my Sadie

service dog has gone

on, past the mailboxes.

My daughter takes me

down to town and docs.

Frankly, I think there's a

lot of the south still

looking for a fight. 😔

Nice going, Judge Boxwine. I'm sure that will make the Nazis feel more at ease, until people start shooting back.

"For Hetero Whites Only"

Isn't there a typo? Shouldn't that name be ORWELL?

That Oklahoma teacher thing was something I was aware of but now I’m thinking: Just how many people would actually be affected as opposed to how much this is a performative act by a couple of sick f***s?

What I’m also thinking, triggered by Putin’s #1 puppet’s deep thought re slavery: a certain amount of this and the rest of the attack on DEI involves stuff that’s long out there, slavery for one. So turning museums into black holes of BS and ignorance spreading, yes, that’s odious but how much it matters, I don’t know but I’m skeptical.

The children coming up

will have an entirely

different "taught" and

"truthful" history of how

this country became

what it is today, even

with all its warts. It's not

just Black history they're

trying to erase, but

Native American history

too and white people,

including my ancestors,

drove and murdered

them, off their lands, so

we'd have places to live.

Anything foreign to

whiteness and white

Christian belief, must go.😪

No, people now know and the truth is out there.

OTOH, it’s not K-12 history was much good. Great propaganda, shitty history.

It’s sort of behind my rant about needing to keep things in the proper perspective.

Here, of course, making school history worse isn’t good, but the decline is small, and most the harm has been done forever already.

Thanks for this update.

It’s all terrible but this part hit me hard, having grown up in schools with ESL classes. I’m guessing CA NY will continue supporting them, but this is so heart-wrenching. The US has played huge role (political destabilization, extraction, predatory loans, regime changes, and fossil fueled climate crisis) in why people are fleeing southern countries in the first place. The bullying level of behavior is off the charts.

“English Only

The Trump Education Department has quietly rescinded longstanding guidance requiring schools to accommodate students who are learning English, prompting fears that support for non-fluent English speakers will evaporate, the WaPo reports.”
