Great post David.

Relieved Garcia is finally free

That list? It's pretty good but left out an important of what Trump and brother are doing. They have fully embraced The Suck; sucking this country, it's standards and people dry.

What's the real reason for erasing Jan6 history? To energize yet another paramilitary for him pre-midterms? He's got at least ICE, BCP, apparently the armed forces, the national guard in WDC that he will federalize for sure to preserve him in his bunker/hospital -- is anyone paying attention here? Thank you for the Quote of the Day and H Litman's quote. Both need to be on speaker.

I stopped just short of crying, because I have decided that when our increasingly fragile Democratic Republic (currently in the ICU) flatlines, none of this will matter.

I wonder if that last bit refers to the study that found Argentinian cops who saw no prospects for advancement would take jobs in the secret police where they all they had to do to advance was be willing to torture and kill ordinary people?

Hmmm, seems like a Noble winner was involved in giving machine guns in diplomatic bags to Pinochet….

Maybe the US was a bad guy then also

Not at all what I was referring to.

"They just need to figure out how to target their ideal labor pool: the frustrated and mediocre.”

A succinct and pithy description of the current state of the trump regime's staffing, from the highest echelon of government, down to the lowest rabble serving as foot soldiers at El Maximo's pleasure. The Argentine "dirty war" model has found fertile grounds in trump's Murka, and also the regime has borrowed a bit from the Nazi era in Germany by bulking up ICE and CBP with individuals cloned from the SA battalions serving Der Führer.

Until these judges put people in jail the rulings are good I guess but nothing will change.

Speaking of the Taub quote at the end, yesterday at LGM were a pair of posts that, to grossly oversimplify, had the thesis that fascism attracts relatively stupid people.

More important maybe is the reminder: While the state works to memory hole J6 (as an example), information is free til it isn't. That is, we can all archive stuff ourselves as a precaution til Big Brother II eliminates it from official sites. So in that sense, Harry Litman's wrong. You see something interesting, download and save it and maybe save it. Protect it.

I’m not sure where we are but right now Trump is fighting for a ballroom, slush fund, arch and spending $35M covering up the Epstein files. Ahead is a lost war, high gas prices and resulting inflation and recession and he’s even distancing from Putin. If he’s winning he’s certainly playing it close to the vest.

“ They just need to figure out how to target their ideal labor pool: the frustrated and mediocre.”

For decades our society focused on maximum short term profit. Manufacturing and similar labor intensive jobs, where frustrated and mediocre people could earn a living were destroyed. Of course republicans favored immediate gratification, but with our two party system, and democrats favoring neoliberalism, what choices were available except to be eventually harvested by clever fascists.

Lots of finger pointing but systematic solutions MUST be created. Bad will get worse until media allows new leaders.
