Here's the late Kirk, who made his bones — and millions — vilifying people other than white, pioneering "collabo" efforts in colleges by assembling "Professor Lists" composed of faculty "turned in" by students for their opinions ONLY, belittling Black people who have succeeded as "inferior, DEI hires", and on and on.
Sure, Kirk may have been a talented organizer amongst young people to enlist as soldiers for the far right, but at bottom he was a grifter making millions on line and in person preaching hate...a latter-day Limbaugh, who Kirk reportedly idolized whilst in his teens.
So, given this rather extensive, well-documented history, people are getting fired, censored, and shamed for merely reprising Kirk's remarks and his world-view? Kirk, an alleged "champion" of free speech, albeit a conditional one — "our" speech yes, but "your" speech is subject to vetting — is seeing that legacy play out in real time, as cowardly "leadership" across companies and institutions round America are going ballistic "rooting out" those voices not sufficiently sympathetic, remorseful, or complimentary of this person.
Well done, mate...even more influential from the grave, as it were.
MTSU fired the assistant dean of students after Marsha Blackburn called for her removal after a facebook post that said she had "zero sympathy for Kirk". Our 1st Amendment rights have been torched.
I don't know others here on TPM feel but this Stalinist purge is very alarming, even more than previous aggressions from the Alt-Right. It's like tsunami of anger and hostility launched at the majority of America. Will they be requiring us to wear identifying armbands next?
Can't read the linked article bcs I cancelled my subscription to Bezosland, so I'll just have to resign myself to wondering whether WAPO included itself in the count when it reported that "...at least a dozen employers have put staffers on leave or dismissed them over remarks about Kirk".
Appreciate your Morning Memo. Just saying ...

Sorry, Mr. Franklin. We tried.

Kilmeade should have
been fired at FOX for his
remark about homeless.
More than half a million
people, including
families, have lost their
homes over the last few
years. These billionaires
ought to get off their
butts and build
affordable housing for
people. Convert all these
empty buildings and
malls into apartments.
As for Kirk and
Kilmeade? Free speech
for me but not for thee is
what this is boils down
to.

Here you go. https://wapo.st/41TGA5J
I think they are really living up to the unique interpretations of free speech and Christianity that Kirk espoused in his life.
"impassable litmus test": we should declare this 24/7 to wake people up.
In the meantime our enemies plot and laugh while we devour ourselves.
Anyone heard of this????
