Fun fact: all these people imploring and stuff — like the five ex-SecDefs — none are showing a scintilla of contrition for their failures that helped bring us to this point. Not necessarily as SecDefs but their overall careers as hack pols allowing Rs to pull crap or failing to maintain institutions — by failing to keep this nation good such that we’re led by the most unfit people possible. I mean, leaders are meant to lead, not to let the nation go to hell.
I think what problem comes down to is that I don’t see any reality-based way we recover from this. Between Democrats’ preferences, gerrymandering, Republican restriction of voting and a deliberately misinforming media, I don’t see what’s needed ever being done. Fact- and reality-based arguments to that welcome.
