The US Army now is backing down from tRump-MAGA threats? THE US ARMY?? I mean, does tRump have his own rival military force? Is this like in Sudan, ffs? Last I heard, Joe Biden was C-I-C, not tRump, so why isn't he directing the Secretary of the Army to fecking DO SOMETHING? A total black mark for Biden if this shite is allowed to be swept aside, and flagrant law-breaking shrugged off.
tRump's MO is "rules are made to be broken", and he's been doing it successfully all of his shitty life. And here we have an example of nothing is so sacred that tRump can piss on it without retribution...there are simply no "red lines" governing tRump's conduct - vulgar and obscene public speech included - and yet again, after some tsk-tsk-ing and tongue-clucking, we all move on, apprehensively awaiting the NEXT outrage from this filth...the mind boggles.

As for the Army's cowardice in the face of Trump, well, maybe it's not cowardice but a reflection that our armed forces are chock full of RWNJs, wannabe fascist terrorists (see, J6 1.0), and MAGAts/MAGA symps. So, you know, y'all wish the Army acted properly here but it's not capable of doing so. BTW: anyone at the Army who thinks being nice to Trump disrespecting Arlington will be proven a fool or worse if he returns to office. (The path to fascism is littered a bit with fools who give fascists the benefit of the doubt.)
Joe Biden is uniquely positioned to address the Arlington issue both due to being CiC and his own personal history. He could make some powerful political and righteous hay here. I suspect he won't given his propriety, desire to not politicize Arlington, and his diminished capacity to bring the fire. I hope I'm wrong and this brings out some of that feral Biden we like to see.
Disappointing that the Army leadership was so cowardly in this case. What cause do they have to fear that orange creep? If he did regain power, he could take revenge on them somehow, but I thought it was anathema for soldiers to wilt before adversity rather than bravely meeting it.

If so the commanding officers there would be well aware of the potential internal disunity as may result from a strong support of the soldier who challenged the tRump entourage. That soldier who was assaulted would likewise be cognizant of potential flack from peers that pressing charges might evoke.
This is a serious issue that must be addressed and dealt with at all levels of public service; particularly where those who serve are responsible for public safety and/or supporting and protecting the Constitution from all enemies, both foreign AND domestic.
When tRump is sent packing some of his MAGA followers may need to choose if their fidelity lies first with the duties they’ve sworn themselves to, or to loser tRump. That won’t happen automatically in many cases; so the leadership of the various branches of the military and peacekeeping agencies will need to ‘draw a line in the sand’ and clearly communicate why it can never be crossed!
This sort of timidity with regard to prosecuting egregious misconduct because of the threat of intimidation or reprisals by external or internal bullying cannot stand any longer! It’s the same sort of fascist tactics employed in Germany prior to World War II. Never again! Never here!
Today on Deadline White House, beloved Nicolle Wallace spit out the TRUTH regarding Trump’s attitude and conduct at Arlington: “He doesn’t give a shit.” 👏👏👏 Well said and spot on!
