Whew, lots happened yesterday! Thanks for the summary, for including the Paul Ryan quote and the link for more of what he said and for Swalwell's cherry on top.
Thank you for the clear perspective on the many scary things happening in the world today. If I may be so bold to request that all journalists stop using the word "reform" unless the "changes in (something, typically a social, political, or economic institution or practice)are in order to improve it." Are the changes Republicans demand at the border an improvement? There is a devil in those details. Maybe 'compromise' instead of 'reform'. Personally, I like immigrants and am afraid of Putin. In my view we need a humane due process for immigrants with pathways to citizenship and serious committed support for the on-going struggle against fascism at home and in Europe.
Request granted! At least as to TPM. We don't throw it around it loosely and haven't ever done so. I see one of the outside articles I excerpted used it. Hard to escape its overuse elsewhere!
The §1512(c)(2) appeal is worrisome, but surely the Court can separate the Capitol's ransacking by the Jan6 mob from tRump's own "obstruction of an official proceeding" during the EC vote process. This question, however, looks to be detached from tRump's immunity claims, and will be decided under the Court's regular calendar, with a summer '24 decision. If somehow they decide in tRump's favor, SC Smith just drops that charge, and the trial continues with the remaining charges...not fatal to the entirety of the Jan6 indictment, but could set a bad precedent.

The Messenger story about the stalker details a seriously creepy guy.
Ya gotta LOVE Swalwell! Not many statements by House members can make me laugh.
Jerry and Jasmine are pretty funny too.
If SCOTUS rules in Trump's favor on immunity, they're playing Russian roulette. IF
Trump gets elected, he then OWNS all the courts; he will
be above the law.
It's really imperative we make
sure Trump doesn't get elected.
Not one step back!
DUMP TRUMP - VOTE BIDEN!
