Haley is horrible. Always has been, always will be, full stop. Of course that makes her no different from most elected gop.

Cut to Dick Durbin furiously writing letters even more strongly-worded. Seriously if Alito won’t recuse, Democrats need to open up an impeachment investigation. Oh and one more Republitrocity to add to the list, Ohio’s Republican supermajority is barring the President of the United States from being on their 2024 ballot, denying the will of the voters, because reasons.

Only the House can open an impeachment investigation. I think we can both agree that the chances of that happening lie between Never Happen and Zero.

True enough, though senate judiciary committee can demand his recusal and investigate him nonetheless. https://www.vanityfair.com/news/story/democrats-should-investigate-samuel-alito-supreme-court

You know that “can” is doing, like, a fatal amount of heavy lifting. No words for how (if) to get from that can to actually happening.

Sadly yes, but it doesn’t mean we should accept it. I mean, this, from the above VF article, is frankly pathetic. “[Durbin] suggested to reporters he was helpless to take more concrete action, given the Republican opposition to ethics reform. “I don’t think there’s much to be gained with a hearing at this point,” Durbin said Monday.” Talk about obeying in advance. Of course Republicans oppose ethics reform as they apparently are lacking in that department altogether. I hope everyone who cares about this will write to or call their senators and apply pressure. It makes no sense to me for the Democratic Senate to squander their majority on this important issue.

The answer is relatively simple and nigh impossible:

1. vote the GOP out of power;

2. then purge the Dems of DINOs.

We've the power but the lack of interest and knowledge so...

Were I to defend Durbin, I'd just leave it at Manchin and Sinema who, both leaving the Senate, are incapable and/or unwilling to do the correct thing.

But, you know, we let the shit go on and get worse for decades so here we are. Ignored problems tend to fester, worsen.

At best in November, we'll somewhat delay what at this rate is the death of meaningful democracy...

All that said, not resisting isn't, you know, acceptable. You know; going down with guns a'blazing.

And that said, it's hard to do much resisting without knowing the enemy.

Y'know, Alito is a cranky,

nasty old don't give a damn

about anything or anyone. I'm

a bit concerned about ticking

him off over these flags.

Especially with the immunity

decision hanging around. I

fully agree he needs to be

kicked off the court, with a

good steel toed boot to his butt. Hey! His NJ shore digs

look in much better shape

than his other place.

I still see the 11th circuit in

Cannon's future. She's

getting closer.

Bravo McGovern! If you can't

exercise your 1st amendment

rights on the floor of the

house, by telling the truth

and illuminating the facts,

our Constitution is definitely

in danger.

I trust that those seeking an abortion in Kansas will choose a question and answer "none of your GD Business." The collection of data is claimed to be "voluntary." Alternatively they could interestingly change the statistics if they ALL chose "Does the pregnancy threaten the patient’s physical, mental or emotional health?" That pretty much covers all the other questions.

I hope that EVERY Democrat will stand up next session and simply say "Donald trump is indicted in 4 cases and trial on one of them is concluding." With luck, they can in a week or so say "one of them has resulted in a conviction." Ironically, by striking the comment from the record in Congress they have indelibly put it on the public record in multiple stories about it.

Hoist THAT up your flagpole and see who salutes it."

Not to defend Alito — as if! — but when can pull all the shit one cares to and never, ever be held to account, well, why ever stop? That of course applies to the current ex-POTUS and far too many people to name. Then again, accountability is for the little people, not our betters…

As for Stealito, can confirm hearing it it on the Strict Scrutiny pod — the best SCOTUS pod, certainly the only one that matters. Whether it was Prof. Litman or Prof. Murray I cannot recall.

What makes it so good besides the utter contempt and disrespect for the GOP majority?

It’s the kind of pod that can start like this:

“Sometimes the Alitos give us a little bit too much content. It's overwhelming.

And I also feel like we don't have Kate here, because we're already so excited, Leah. I feel if Kate were here, she'd be like, settle down, bitches. But we're like, no, let's fucking go.”

And then they fucking went. 😍

Smart, informative and rightly contemptuous is a fine combination.

What sentient being is surprised at Haley's "I'll vote for tRump" statement? Just a matter of time, but waaaaay too late to catch the VP train. NYT cut her some slack by reporting that Haley's remarks fell short of an "official endorsement", whatever THAT means...gaaah!
