LOVED your headline: "GOP Stunned to Discover It's Not Running Against a Cadaver in 2024"! Perfect and my sentiments too as I watched last night. Great collection this morning, as usual. Thanks David!

Great Headline and great speech. My favorite part (which may have been scripted, but still) was the "gaffe" when he mentioned Moscow re drug prices--and then recovered, saying, yes even Moscow. Trump doesn't even NOTICE his similar gaffes, much less correct them.

Speaker Mike looked so many times like he desperately wanted to go for a pee with all his squirming and facial moues.

Fantastic headline this morning, David. Biden beat

some butt last night. Great

SOTU!

Yes, the 11th circuit is shining

much brighter in my crystal ball for Aileen Cannon. You'd

think she'd remember her last

go around with them.

I think if Larry Hogan won’t codify Roe, protect IVF, affirmatively support Biden, or caucus with Democrats, I don’t see how he can succeed in being elected to Senate.

Maryland is a blue state, and while he was a popular moderate Republican governor, the Republican Party has lurched so far right that if he caucuses with them, then he’s an authoritarian same as all the other Republicans.

Does he not see this?

As a young congressional staffer (I worked in both the Senate & the House), I spent many an evening hanging in the Senate & House galleries watching & listening for attempted power grabs and sabotages as critical legislation was debated. Honestly, it was sometimes difficult to keep my eyes open.

But last night was special. President Biden's SOTU address was the speech I never thought I'd hear during my lifetime. As a Democratic campaign contributor, I was able to send the President a text message to his campaign number. My message (I explained that I meant no disrespect) was simple: 'Give 'em hell, Joe!'

DAMN! He did just that!

Well done, Mr. President! Well done!

Or as Harry Truman put it, "I tell the truth and Republicans think they're in hell."

Amen to that! I think they realize--fundamentally--what a weak position their party is in and, more particularly, what a weak candidate they have. And we won't even begin to discuss the facts around them offering voters--all Americans--nothing but a headlong rush back to the Dark Ages.

Just to clarify what David said about bringing in foreign correspondents to cover our exceptional domestic politics: a lot of those reporters are freelancers with much less incentive to do the performative BS our mainstream, elite reporters engage in.

One hopes that SC Smith is lining up Judge* Cannon's rulings for an appeal to the 11th CA, as the prosecution's tightly argued responses to tRump's blatantly obvious time-wasting and risible motions virtually dare Cannon to uphold any one of them. And if she continues to demand "transparency" on unsealing witness ID, game over.

Fully agree that Jack Smith's team is educating the judge while trying to prosecute the case, which was stunningly obvious in last week's hearing regarding CIPA procedures, where Cannon's inexperience and bare competence was lit up. Don't know how far Smith will allow this clowning from the bench to continue, but one or two additional motions to reconsider could be the breaking point.
