JVL, writing in The Bulwark, notes that tRump was always about "heat", a term coined by Vince McMahon, head of the WWE pro "rasslin'" enterprise, and refers to the interest generated by a particular "wrestler", whether it's extreme idolatry or acute hatred, it's "heat".
tRump, with his strong identification with the WWE and McMahon, exemplifies "heat" in politics, with fervid partisans and haters in near-equal numbers, and attention-level always sky-high.
However, JVL now reckons that VP Harris is bringing "heat", and largely very positive heat, pushing tRump into the background, and a chance for her to ride that "heat" right into the WH.
Wonderful tribute and recollection of a true war hero, who suffered mightily years after his deployment in Vietnam. One of the rare acts of true heroism in that dreadful period of misguided US imperialistic military intervention. Hugh Thompson, Jr. forever remains a heroic symbol of conscience amongst brutality and sheer, wanton murder disguised as "the fight against Communism".
It is past time to stop treating Ex-POTUS as a legitimate politician. The current “weird” narrative is a start, but needs more bite.
He was always a laughingstock in NYC business circles (who bankrupts a casino?) He lost the popular vote 2x, bigly, and has lost ever since.
His record of cheating and lying is well documented. He must be ridiculed, constantly. This wannabe emperor has never been clothed. Time to point fingers and laugh at him. He’s a booger, not the boogie man.
Kaynahorah that Team Kamala can keep Trump & co. off balance through the election. Of course, being conservatives, it'd be hard for them to adapt. And if there's one tell of a modern conservative, it's doubling down when caught in the wrong.
As for Zinke's remarks, Trump v US (the SCOTUS decision, not Trump's leadership) strongly suggests that Biden should have immunity for having Trump whacked over the couple hundred thousand Covid deaths in which he was complicit and, given those killings, the probability that he'd do the same if in office when another pandemic would strike. Just saying; case can be made.
As for Vance's (if that's his real, legal name) "sucker punch": since when they say crap like that they're actually projecting, does his use here mean he wants to be sucker punched for all his failures and sins as a human being?
I'm afraid I need a refresher here. What are the "special interests of the left" referenced ("decades long misinterpretation of special interests on the left as animated by 'grievance' politic")? Please explain. Thank you.

I saw what you did there.
Love that pro wrestling vs. olympics line. How true and timely.

Plausible theory, IMHO.

Sadly Biden is too hobbled by decades of comity to use his power.
Pffh. All he needs to do is make a call. Not like he needs to pack an AR-15 and go Trump hunting.
"The failure of the Trump campaign to do so effectively remains inexplicable and a bit mystifying" hubris...
"The truth is, these are not very bright guys, and things got out of hand."

How about all of the sucker punches they've delivered lately. Oh, I forgot, that doesn't count.

2024 Ephemera, In addition to the TAP interview with Katie Porter, there was an essay about Eric Holder being selected to vet Harris’s VP candidates that is challenging https://prospect.org/blogs-and-newsletters/tap/2024-07-29-kamala-harris-eric-holder-problem/
The American Prospect was the place that first gave Ezra Klein, boy moron, his first public shot. 'Nuff said.
What year was the photo of Thompson and Colburn taken at the Vietnam War Memorial?
Thank you.
1998
Thank you...sorry if I missed that in the story.
No worries, it was only implied. I've now updated the photo caption with the year. Thx!
