Amongst what can be called the decades-long failure or choice not to cover Trump honestly is the simple fact that he’s inhuman. Should be obvious by now yet still ignored.

Related: also under-reported with shaky framing is that he has a desperate need to compensate for 2020 and be returned to office by any and all means available and then to abuse power to get his infantile revenge. After that, grifting and weekends golfing (the last needed to take his real estate owner tax deductions), he’ll have little time to actually serve the nation while in office.

Fun fact: ruthlessness and a refusal to compromise didn’t start with 45 but with Neutron Newt in the 1990s.

And who on the NYT political desk thought it was worth a few column-inches for the write-up on tRump "retiring" his stupid 'Ron DeSanctimonious" so-called nickname after DeSantis gave tRump his endorsement whilst on bended knee? TBH, the Times has lost all perspective on tRump coverage, and simply has lost the plot.

Finally, this great line on the man himself, lifted from The Bulwark:

- He was, in the memorable words of GOP consultant Stuart Stevens, “Ted Cruz without the personality.” -

I know...I had a big laugh at that. You can't hit much more below the belt that that, can you?

Haley has her concession speech AND tRump endorsement all polished up and ready to drop...which in fact was the obvious conclusion to her media-inspired, short-lived "momentum" and campaign. She couldn't get past the "slavery" business, and couldn't shake the patina of a lightweight opportunist...good bloody riddance.

Every day goes by Milquetoast Merrick looks worse for slow walking the tangeranus cases and by extension Biden for appointing the worthless POS. I swear to pete why why why?

Ditto. We could’ve been spared a lot of this insanity had Garland gotten to work on this literally the minute he was appointed.

But we had such high hopes that his appointment to US Attorney General would be the perfect vindication for being stonewalled for an appointment to the Supreme Court...... Sigh......

He was recommended by right wing nutter Orin Hatch so...

I'm so lucky to have the likes of you to explain how the world works to me. Whatever shall I do now that you have eviscerated my internet postulate? Although, you don't seem to know tangeranus is actually not a king so maybe your opinion is not as righteous as you assume?

TC operates this way. He insults people, and he calls people names. He has no respect for fellow commenters, and he thinks he’s the smartest man in the room (and possibly the known universe). He’s an old guy with a big chip on his shoulder, and I’d say I’m at the point where I’m going to block him now. He can still reply, but I won’t see the bullshit that he spews coming into my inbox. By the way, he’s also a coward, because there’s another site where he comments frequently; however, that moderator takes tight control of the comments and does not allow insults or fighting among the subscribers. He’s always polite on that site. He just picks his opportunities to trash people where he knows the moderator will not get involved. That’s how cowards operate. So you’re not alone, and I’ve seen plenty of his hate and obnoxiousness elsewhere.

Finally, as I said above, I agree with you. I think we both understand that these cases need to be perfectly executed, and I have faith that Jack Smith is doing that. It also seems likely that Garland may have been waiting for the seditious conspiracy convictions. Nonetheless, he dragged his feet in the beginning, and he should’ve assigned a special prosecutor much earlier.

I freely admit I am strident in my opinion of Garland! Smith is a brilliant prosecutor, I have all faith in him. Ima block TC too.

I wrote a letter to Substack recently asking why they can’t update the block feature to prevent people who are consistently rude from responding to you. You can do that in the Notes feature but you can’t do that in the comments sections. When you block someone, all it does is stop their replies from coming to your inbox or app. So it’s not really effective at shutting people down. Oh well..

Over the years I've got pretty good at ignoring nasty comments...

Also, I reported the comment to David Kurtz. Not sure it will do much, but I find this kind of nonsense intolerable. I’ve seen comments from this guy that make MAGA folks seem civil.

The sad part is that when he's not being insulting and snarky, he does have some good things to say - if you can get past the gratuitous graphic garbage. I followed his Substack briefly, then unsubscribed because so much of it was so unnecessary.

Agreed. He’s intelligent and knows a tremendous amount of history, but I’m sorry, there’s no excuse for attacking other people on these sites the way he does. There’s enough anger and vulgarity in this world due to Trump and his minions, so we don’t need it among people trying to have intelligent discussions. There are ways to politely disagree with someone.

I watched a bit, a small bit, of DeSantis on X. His picture should be in the dictionary next to HYPOCRISY.

His picture should also reside next to a fair selection of other unflattering descriptives, too.

Politico: “A growing number of House Republicans are increasingly frustrated with Johnson’s leadership and whispering about whether he can hang on to his role after 2024 — if he even makes it that far.”

Mr Johnson needs to make a decision and soon if he has any hopes of making it to the election as Speaker. His only hope as I see it, is to work with democrats. He has gotten a very strong border bill and he has kept the govt open. He needs to bring the border bill and the aid package to the floor where it will pass with an overwhelming majority. If he does this than pushes through clean funding bills I believe democrats will protect him in a motion to vacate. There is little in that border deal that will make a difference this year, so republicans can still demagogue on it.

In other words, if he is to survive, he must give up being everything he has ever been - an ignorant Looserana white trash bible-thumping Fundamentalist moron.

I don't think he has it in him to do that kind of self-surgery.
