I do like the proposed interval based appointments and standardized 18 year terms for justices. I also think that the Supreme Court's composition needs additional restructuring, including expanding it to at least 13 justices, for 13 circuits. I also think expanding it further to 26 justices and having random assignments to cases would be useful. The DC Court of Appeals has 15 judges, so it is singularly odd that the Supreme Court has so few judges to process so mang cases.

As for Trump's promise that if we elect him we'll never have to vote again (I paraphrase), sometimes the media like to take the idiocy he spews while pandering to his cretinous supporters as something other than that. Sometimes, sure, it should be taken seriously--by both us and those elite news media saving our democracy by playing down the existential threat the nation's facing from the GOP as much as possible.

Whether Trump is just pandering or making a real threat, the reality is that is a literally monstrous human being who should never be underestimated when it comes to doing something awful. He is provably incapable of doing any good for anyone other than himself. And when a monster like that is driven to, say, wipe out the stain of the 2020 loss, anything and everything goes; no limits.

Which brings us to Vance: the fucking moron (not my characterization) was compelled to pick a Mini Me which, at least in a sane world, is the worst possible choice. (Of course, I'm sure there were no other sofasexuals under consideration.)

Re: "You'll never have to vote again" remarks...the NYT Michael Gold initially filed a report on the speech where those comments were simply stenographed without comment nor context:
