tRump is daily providing fresh material for the Harris campaign, material that the corporate media is continuing to sanewash, despite the increasing untenable nature of their efforts, as tRump's headlong decline into a demented state continues relentlessly. Whether Harris' attacks gain traction, however, is another question, as both the media and the public have "priced in" his inanities, threats, vulgarities, and wildly discursive and nonsensical speech patterns in how tRump is generally perceived, so her singling out particularly egregious remarks may carry little weight.

Which in itself is one of the most telling aspects of this entire, miserable election cycle.

I’ve been saying forever, if not everywhere, that no Democrat can make a better case against Trump than he does just by being himself. The media only have to show it, no additional reporting needed.

Of course, that only helps with the popular vote, not with any of Kamala’s other headwinds…

Barry Goldwater was the first representative of the "New Right" to run for office, and his "Choice not an echo" and the "Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice" line didn't sit well with the general public, particularly just a few years after the Cuban Missile Crisis. And he lost in a landslide, but move the erstwhile "Solid South" into the GOP column, where it has remained.

tRump, OTOH, has been spreading extremism for years already, people seem "comfortable" with his racism, authoritarianism, and recent descent into fascism, so I simply couldn't imagine a "blockbuster" ad such as "Daisy" could ever be created that would once and for all sink this fucker's sorry arse, full stop.

All I meant as a comparison was the equivalent of let’s say a hard punch.

OTOH, saying electing Goldwater would result in a nuclear holocaust was hyperbolic. Finally calling Donnie a fascist and threat to the nation (as we’ve already seen he is) obviously would be stating simple facts.

If I was her media person, I’d have an ad like that running in all media during the ~48-72 hours running up to Election Day.

The Daisy ad was as you say "hyperbolic", but effective...the problem with tRump is that he already has exceeded "hyperbolic", and highlighting the "hyperbolicisms" just hasn't resonated. He hasn't gone down the "n-word" route in any of his rallies, nor has he brought out a Swastika flag and embraced on stage, so what's left for him to do?

Clearly he’s ramping up the insanity. And the media are tending to leave it exposed far more than they have to date.

Regarding, “The Justice Department will monitor voting in Portage County, Ohio, during the November election, after the county sheriff last month posted on Facebook urging residents to write down the addresses of people displaying yard signs for Vice President Kamala Harris.”

Sure. But record the addresses of gun owners and the 2nd Amendment folks explode.

If the corporate press was

smart, they'd pay a bit closer

attention to Trump's remark

with Bloomberg economist

about his plans for "the press'

when he is re-elected. Am

glad TPM/MM is not part

of corporate press.

At this point in the

pre-election, I think Kamala

Harris and Tim Walz should

expose Trump and his

president in waiting Vance,

in any and all ways. If they're

elected, who do you think is

really going to be running the

Oval Office? Not going to be

sock puppet Trump.

So.

What are the odds of Kamala running the 2024 equivalent of LBJ’s daisy ad? (Google it if you’re not familiar with it. It was a legit banger.)

My comment above was in response to your Daisy ad remarks...got misfiled.
